General requirements

There are numerous degrees taught in the English language in Sweden as English is the second most spoken language.

The student visa to study in Sweden takes around 90 days or more. Students need to start their process as soon as possible to avoid any last minute glitches. Always opt for online application as the paper application takes much longer time.

What to pack education abroad

Stay back option and work permit in Sweden

There are stay back options for international students after they complete their studies by extending your residence permit up to 6 months where you can look for a job or start a new business. To apply for a residence permit the student must have:

  • Completed 2  full-time semesters or complete program of study. 
  • Students need to be financially secured during the extension period. 

Working rights on student visa

In Sweden, there is no limit on hours of working as long as you have a valid residence permit to attend the Swedish university or college. 

Visa conditions

The visa condition to live in Sweden as a student requires:

  • A residence permit for an extra 12 months to extend your living. During these months students can find jobs and apply for work permits.
  • If you are here for 3 months then you can still apply for a residence permit.

Intakes

In Sweden, there are 2 intakes i.e. Spring intake and Autumn intake. The Autumn intake starts in August- September and the spring intake starts in January.

For entry level requirements to study in Sweden the following are required:

  • English proficiency results
  • Entrance exam results
  • Completion of higher studies with maths as a subject

After receiving the offer letter from the university and paying the advance tuition fee you can apply for a student visa through the portal of the Swedish Migration Agency. 

The Bachelor’s program is known as first cycle undergraduate and the Master’s level is known as Second cycle Graduate.
