To apply for Netherlands studies the study visa processing time usually takes around 60- 90 days. The MVV or the ‘Machtiging tot Voorlopig Verblifj’ (Dutch for Provisional Residence Permit) is an entry visa for undergraduates and masters.

After completing the course study in the Netherlands you can stay up to 3 months. A 3-year extension in the country is available to apply for a job. The eligibility for the same is discussed below:

  • Students must have completed their bachelor’s and masters’ degrees from the dutch higher education institution. 
  • Students need to complete at least 1 year postgraduate program in the Netherlands. 
  • Students need to be Ph.D. graduates from a Dutch university.

Working rights on student visa

International Students in the Netherlands can work – 

  • Students may work up to 16 hours per week with a work permit from the employer during the term time.
  • Students who are non-EU are allowed to work as many hours as they can while a student but with a valid residence permit. 

Visa conditions

  • There is a short stay visa or Schengen visa in the Netherlands which is valid for up to 90 days for students. 
  • If you plan to study for the long term i.e. more than 90 days in the Netherlands then an entry visa (MVV) and a residence permit (VVR) are required. 

Intakes

There are 2 intakes in the Netherlands every year which take place in February and September. The September intake is considered to be the primary intake as all types of courses are available in this intake.
