Visa processing time

The student visa for France usually takes 3 weeks and the consulate process usually takes around 2 weeks. Before the departure takes place. 90 days are mandatory for the application process. On average, a student can expect to finally have a student visa in around 2-3 months.

Stay back options in France

Stay back options and work permit in France

After completing graduation, students can stay back in France when they receive paid employment. To apply for resident permits students need to have a paid job. This rule follows for both undergraduate and postgraduate students.  For postgraduate students, the rule is a bit relaxed in terms of stay back as they don’t need a job to acquire a temporary residence permit for the duration of 12 to 24 months. You need to find a permanent job in order to stay long in France. 

Working rights with student visa

International Students in France can work –

  • Work part-time (up to 20 hrs per week during semesters) and (964 hours annually). 
  • Full time ( 40 hrs per week during scheduled holidays)

Visa conditions

  • If you have a long-stay visa serving as a residence permit (VLS-TS) it can be validated within 3 months after arriving in France. 
  • The short-stay visa is only limited to up to 3 months and is not extendable if you do not meet other criteria. 
  • The long-stay visa is valid for more than 3 months and to renew it on time students need to find a permanent job as well as accommodation.

Intakes

France usually has 2 intakes i.e. in January spring intake and September fall intake.

Yes you need to have an IELTS score if your educational course is in the English language.
