Stay back options and work permit in Switzerland

The stay back option for international students in Switzerland is upto 6 months after completing the graduation. If you are employed with a Swiss Employer then you can stay as long as the company gives you a stay permit. To get PR i.e. permanent residence in Switzerland the citizen must live up to 10 years. Other than this you should be financially stable with sufficient bank balance. 

Working rights on student visa

Students who are Non-EU in Switzerland can work –

  • Work part-time (up to 15 hrs per week during semesters) and 100% when on semester holidays.
  • Students can start working after their graduation after 6 months. 



Visa conditions

  • Students who are non-EU/EFTA can stay upto 90 days depending on which country you are travelling from. 
  • For short stays one can stay upto 3 months. Students need a Schengen visa to live in the country.

Intakes

There are 2 intakes in Switzerland every year i.e. Spring intake and Autumn intake.

Yes there are plenty of English programs in Switzerland for students who do not know Switzerland language. You need to prove your English proficiency through exams like IELTS, PTE, TOEFL, DET, etc.

Yes, you can work as an international student in both part-time jobs and full-time jobs in your suitable course. You are allowed to work for a limited number of days which is not extendable. For working in Switzerland self-employed and freelancers do not count. 

As a foreign student you can live in university hostels, German halls of residence, shared flats, and private apartments.
